Congratulations to Cathryn Cowell, winner of the Most Promising Young Musician trophy, which was a gift to us from the West London Branch of Comhaltas in memory of one of our namesakes: Edmond Murphy. Cathryn was recognized for her music skills and for teaching in the music school, as well as for her high level of participation in club and school events. Cathryn has been a member of the club since she was 4 years old and now, at 12, has accomplished two trips to the All Ireland, placing 4th this year in Fiddle Solo; she is annually ranked first or second in her age category in the Midwest in both airs and solos. She regularly participates in the annual North American convention and plans to attend the upcoming convention in New Jersey. We are very proud of all she has accomplished. The trophy was presented by last year's winner, Rory Chole and Molly Griffin, our youth officer.
